Red & Copper Color Specialist

Radiant red curls

Color that compliments, not complicates.

Rich reds and radiant coppers, thoughtfully created just for you — in a calm, one-chair studio just north of Tampa.

Red and copper aren't something I offer on the side. They're the reason I fell in love with this work. There's a softness to a well-made copper and a warmth to a beautiful red that feels like you — settled, confident, quietly radiant. My hope is always that your color helps you feel seen and cared for, on the outside and the inside both.

Why so many reds lose their way

Red and copper have a reputation for fading fast or turning brassy, and there's a gentle truth behind it: most of the time, the color was matched to a photo instead of to a person. Your eyes, your skin, your personality — those are what make your right red truly yours. And the little things matter, like blending the root with a soft golden base so your color grows out kindly, without a harsh line. Tend to those details, and everything changes.

How I care for your color

Beautiful reds and coppers that last come down to patience and craft: careful formulation, the right lift, and the finest professional color I've found anywhere — Wella. I've tested nearly every line out there chasing the perfect warm tone, and Wella's reds and coppers still hold a place all their own. Chasing that is my joy — and the result is yours to wear.

And brunettes? Absolutely.

Let me be clear — I love a beautiful brunette. Reds and coppers may be my deepest passion, but rich, dimensional brunette is where so much of my warm-tone work lives: glossy depth, soft copper and red lowlights woven through, and a grow-out so gentle it never leaves a harsh line. If you're a brunette who wants warmth, shine, and dimension — never flat, never brassy — you are exactly my kind of guest.

Colorist Dean Downing at Simply Colour

What your first visit feels like

We begin with a real conversation — no rushing — so I understand your hair and your life before I ever reach for a formula. With a warm latte, sparkling water, or a glass of wine in hand, we look together at where you'd love to go. I prep your hair with a treatment that repairs as it works and gently lifts away the buildup that can dull your color. Then I create your color by hand, the technique chosen just for you.

From there you settle into what I call the living room — soft lighting, something lovely on the screen, your drink and a little snack — while your color develops. At the bowl, you recline for a custom cleanse, a nourishing treatment, and toning if you need it, from a repair mask to a full scalp-and-steam. Then we cut, style, and I share the little tips to help you keep this feeling at home. We gather your take-home favorites, and we rebook so you're always looked after. Unhurried, one chair, entirely yours.

“Dean is an artist. I love his vision.”

“His suggestions for color and cut were exactly what I was looking for. The place is so inviting, peaceful and relaxing. I absolutely love the ambiance. He is so friendly and welcoming. I felt like I was having coffee and catching up with a long-lost friend! By far the best and most unique salon experience ever!”

What it's worth

This was never meant to be the lowest-priced chair in town. What you're really saying yes to is time, gentle expertise, and color that holds — which is why my guests find they can wait longer between visits than they used to. Ranges and starting points live on the services menu; the heart of it is simple: caring for yourself this way gives back a little every time you catch your reflection.

Keeping it beautiful, gently

Some guests love to come back every six weeks to stay fresh; some of my coppers are happy with a visit every three or four months. We'll find a rhythm that fits your life, never a rigid rule — and you'll always go home knowing exactly how to care for your color.

A turn I hold close

One of my most cherished guests came to me after trying to save elsewhere had left her color damaged and her ends fragile from bleach. She wasn't sure I could help — she'd quietly followed me online for years — but one day she decided she was worth it. Her color turned out even lovelier than I'd hoped, and more than two years later she's still in my chair, her visits stretched twice as long as before. Every time I see her, she tells me her husband still can't get over how healthy her hair looks.

“Dean did exactly what I wanted with my hair, and had lovely advice on new things to try. So friendly, and a delight to spend the afternoon with.”

— Katie

Is this you?

My chair is for the woman who's decided she's worth it — that it's finally her time to be cared for. It was never about expensive upkeep. It's about knowing your worth, and letting yourself be looked after for a few quiet hours that are all your own.

Where I am

Simply Colour is a calm, one-chair studio in Lutz, warmly serving Wesley Chapel, Land O' Lakes, and the small towns around us. Color worth the drive.

Ready when you are

Start a new-guest consultation and tell me everything — your history, your hopes, and a few photos. The more you share, the better I can care for your color. I keep every visit personal and unhurried, which means I don't take calls during appointments — so this quiet first note is where we begin.
